When the label keeps your addiction alive (and what to do instead)

Hi friend,

Are you tired of struggling with addiction but feel like you’ve already exhausted all of your options?

You’ve already tried everything from doctors to psychiatrists to talk therapy to self-help books, but nothing has worked.

If this sounds familiar, hypnotherapy could be for you.

Despite how powerful hypnotherapy can be, the stigma around it leaves many people skeptical.

My client John was one of them.

John came to me with a history of chronic substance abuse and an equally long history of trying to fix it.

By the time we met, he wasn’t looking for motivation or inspiration to help him through it.

He wanted something that just worked and fastsomething that got right to the heart of what kept causing him to relapse.

So, he decided to give hypnotherapy a try.

In hypnotherapy, you tap into the subconscious to address the root causes of the issue you’re facing.

Together, we discovered that at the root of John’s addiction was a memory bank full of shame, failures, fears, and hopelessness.

So, we created a personalized script that specifically targeted those memories and focused on how John reacted to them.

Not to erase them, but to change their emotional weight.

By tapping into John’s memories and listening to the script, the experiences that once weighed heavily on him start to be seen with a more positive light.

Things like mistakes he made that filled him with shame and regret, suddenly became lessons learned and lived through.

Slowly, those memories stopped triggering the fear and self-judgment that they used to.

And the best part?

John was able to visualize what his life would look like sober.

Soon, John stopped feeling the pull of substances whenever difficult memories resurfaced or tough emotions came up.

Instead, the cravings stopped, and he fully stepped into the sober life he had envisioned.

If you can see yourself in John’s story and if you feel like you’ve tried everything and still feel stuck, hypnotherapy might be your next step.

While hypnotherapy is not a magic cure, it offers the chance at real change so you can start living the life you want – free from the addictions holding you back.

In just one session, my clients start to see positive change and lasting healing after just 6-10 sessions.

💭 This Week's Journaling Prompt

Meeting Your Future Self

Imagine yourself some time in the future — a year from now, five years from now, or simply more settled than today. Let yourself arrive in the middle of an ordinary day and notice what you see, hear, smell, and feel in your body. Pay attention to small details: your pace, your posture, the way the day holds you. Now imagine this future version of you is aware of the present-day you. What do they want you to know? What do they appreciate about the effort you’re making now? What do they no longer need you to worry about? Write for 5–10 minutes and stop when you feel a sense of arrival.

With curiosity and compassion,

Adina

P.S. Hypnotherapy isn’t about mind control or quick fixes. It works by tapping into the subconscious mind where the habits, emotional reactions, and shame-based patterns at the core of your addiction are formed. When those patterns shift at their root, it creates rapid change that sticks – even when traditional methods fail.

Hi friend, Are you a fan of Wicked the movie or Broadway musical? If so, you probably already know that it’s not just a story about good versus bad. It’s a tale of identity, vulnerability, and the tension between seeking external validation and staying true to oneself. Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy helps us explore both the Good Witch and Bad Witch parts of ourselves and understand that together, they help us lead from a balanced sense of Self. In IFS Therapy, we call these opposing...

Hi friend, As a therapist, I see grief and loss up close and personal. I watch as clients run their hands across my faux leather chairs, hands faltering as if wanting to hold onto loved ones that will never come back. I listen as they speak about exes, mothers, fathers, or partners as if they can still hear them – even though they’re long gone. I sit in silence as sobs rush out, bringing with them a torrent of sorrow, pain, anger, longing, and love. But I don’t offer hope that things will get...
