Therapy felt too scary so instead, I wrote ✍️

Hi friend,

There was a time when the idea of going to therapy felt “too scary” for me.

So instead, I wrote.

Writing was the start of my healing process and became the place where I put everything I didn’t yet know how to say out loud.

I would write through the pain, suffering, and trauma over and over again.ima

It was my ultimate coping mechanism.

However, the first time I experienced the true healing effects of writing came years later, in the early days of the pandemic.

Feeling unmoored and isolated, I began searching for a writing community.

That’s when I found a writing group where we shared our stories. There was no judgment, just a shared space to have our stories be heard.

At first, it felt awkward. I had never shared anything I’d written before, and honestly, I never thought I would.

But the awkwardness passed faster than I expected and was replaced by intense relief.

As I read my words aloud and listened to others share theirs, I could feel the empathy pouring through the Zoom screen.

I realized that the experience I was living through wasn’t just mine. It was shared. Both the collective trauma of the pandemic and my own personal history.

That’s when writing stopped being just a coping mechanism and became something transformational.

Writing lets us sit with uncomfortable feelings instead of pushing them away.

It invites us to be curious about the pain we carry and make sense of what we’re feeling.

And when we write in community, we’re reminded that we are not alone.

Writing helps us honor our stories while imagining a healthier, more restored version of ourselves.

If you’re ready to write your way to healing, my Writing Bravely course is enrolling now.

Writing Bravely is a 6-week writing program that offers a gentle, supportive community to write and heal together.

These classes are designed to meet you where you are. No prior writing skills necessary.

I provide prompts to help you mine your memories, traumas and dreams through expressive writing.

Classes start January 20, 2026. Click here for more information or to enroll.

Have questions before joining? Hit “REPLY” and send them my way!

With stories and compassion,
Adina

P.S. Remember, writing has the power to help us process difficult emotions, be heard, and reconnect with our truest selves. Writing Bravely isn’t a creative writing class. What you write isn’t expected to be perfect. You just need to have the courage to reflect and the willingness to show up for yourself and your story. Click here to join.

Hi friend, Are you a fan of Wicked the movie or Broadway musical? If so, you probably already know that it’s not just a story about good versus bad. It’s a tale of identity, vulnerability, and the tension between seeking external validation and staying true to oneself. Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy helps us explore both the Good Witch and Bad Witch parts of ourselves and understand that together, they help us lead from a balanced sense of Self. In IFS Therapy, we call these opposing...

Hi friend, As a therapist, I see grief and loss up close and personal. I watch as clients run their hands across my faux leather chairs, hands faltering as if wanting to hold onto loved ones that will never come back. I listen as they speak about exes, mothers, fathers, or partners as if they can still hear them – even though they’re long gone. I sit in silence as sobs rush out, bringing with them a torrent of sorrow, pain, anger, longing, and love. But I don’t offer hope that things will get...

Hi friend, Are you tired of struggling with addiction but feel like you’ve already exhausted all of your options? You’ve already tried everything from doctors to psychiatrists to talk therapy to self-help books, but nothing has worked. If this sounds familiar, hypnotherapy could be for you. Despite how powerful hypnotherapy can be, the stigma around it leaves many people skeptical. My client John was one of them. John came to me with a history of chronic substance abuse and an equally long...
